Lesjöfors’ nail shield protects pipes in walls

by sdpress
April 21st, 2010

March 26, 2010 (MMD Newswire) — A system that prevents damage on water and gas pipes in walls at carpenter work has been developed. The nail shield makes the constructing process safer and more effective.

In European countries such as Norway, it’s common with gas heated houses, where gas and water pipes, along with electricity cables, run inside the walls. For e.g. fitting carpenters it can be difficult to know where exactly the pipes and cables are placed when the walls are up and painted. This means an immediate risk for damaged pipes so that a leakage of water or gas happens, which can be expensive in repair costs and delays.

Nail shield in hardened steel material Norwegian carpenter Geir Magnar Skjold has in a collaboration with Lesjöfors developed a nail shield, that protects the sensitive pipes with a hardened steel material in exposed areas. The

Grove Products Announces Results of their Latest Green Shims

by sdpress
April 21st, 2010

Leominster, MA (MMD Newswire) January 28, 2010 – - Grove Products is proud to announce the results of their cutting edge, “green” shims. These new shims are made from recycled plastic, and the findings are astounding.

“Using steel shims is cost prohibitive; it requires additional time, labor and resources. The Grove Shims can be mortared right into the joints, saving time and money. These shims will never deteriorate. Years ago, wood shims were the only shim available. They had to be soaked, allowed to expand, place the shim, mortar the joints, wait for the mortar to set and wait for the wood to dry and contract, then remove the wood so it wouldn’t rot, and finally patch the hole. Using the plastic shims eliminates this tedious process and doesn’t jeopardize the integrity of the mortar. It’s also an incredible savings in labor,” explains Dave Braune,

Collapsible road signs improve traffic safety

by sdpress
April 21st, 2010

February 23, 2010 (MMD Newswire) — Commissioned by MEAG, Lesjöfors has designed a spring system for collapsible road signs, used at road works. Collapsible signs improve traffic safety and working environment for road workers.

MEAG, one of Europe´s leading road sign manufacturers, needed to improve the temporary signposts at e.g. road works. Lesjöfors was engaged to develop a spring system who could meet MEAG´s demands.

- The mechanism we developed for MEAG is designed to collapse at a collision and can easily be straightened without damage. An additional advantage is the new light-weight steel foundations who replaced the heavy rubber foundations used earlier. This makes handling much easier and prevents injuries caused by heavy lifting, says Göran Andersen, Senior Advisor at Lesjöfors Stockholm Fjäder.

In 2010, the new road sign systems will be introduced to the market. The collapsible signposts need only 20 per cent of the space needed earlier on transportation vehicles
